New California Vessel Operator Card Requirements

As we head into Memorial Day weekend and kick off the summer season, many Californians head to local lakes, bays, and other waterways for fun, fishing, and relaxation. Beginning in 2018, however, Californians heading out on the water will need to meet new education requirements in order to lawfully operate an engine powered vessel. California Senate Bill 941 was signed into law in September 2014, and went into effect in January of 2015.


LSNC Wishes Jacob Smith Bon Voyage!

The long-time Managing Attorney for Legal Services of Northern California’s Redwood Regional office, which serves Humboldt and Del Norte Counties, will retire on May 31, 2016.  Mr. Smith is a graduate of Pomona College, Claremont, California.  He graduated from New York University School of Law in 1973. He has been providing legal assistance to the Redwood Region since 1979, where has served as Managing Attorney of the Redwood Regional Office of LSNC and Director of Senior Legal Services in Eureka, California.


Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation Informational Sessions May 11 in Arcata

Wednesday, May 11, the California Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation will offer two identical informational sessions at the D Street Neighborhood Center in Arcata, located at 1301 D Street.  Janssen Malloy LLP attorneys will be attending the first session, from 4:30-5:45 pm.  A second session will take place from 6:15-7:30 pm.  These informational sessions are open to the public and should provide the North Coast with its first opportunity to hear directly from state regulators how the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act (“MMRSA”) will be implemented over the next few years.  Calle
